KATHUA, 15 AUG: Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS* on Thursday arrested one bootlegger & recovered 13 Bottles of Chenab JK Special Whisky 750 ml each and one person was arrested.
During routine checking, a police party of P/S Billawar led by *SHO Billawar Insp Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SDPO Billawar Sh Neeraj Padyar* noticed one person moving suspiciously on foot while carrying a bag on the Machheidi road, Upon being stopped and questioned, he disclosed his identity as Thakur Dass S/o Boti Ram R/o Badnota, Tehsil Lohai Malhar. Upon checking his bag 13 bottles (750/750 ML each) of Chenab JK Special Whisky has been recovered from his possession.
As the individual was transporting liquor without valid permission or license, his actions were found to be in violation of the Excise Act. Consequently, FIR No. 125/2025 U/S 48(a) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Billawar. Further investigation is underway.
