Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena-IPS* arrested one bootlegger & recovered 56 quarters of JK Special Whisky (180 ml each) from his possession in the jurisdictional area of Out Post Ghatti,PS Kathua.
Acting on a tip off regarding the sale of illicit liquor,a police party led by I/C Out Post Ghatti PSI Rajat Kotwal under the guidance of DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Ravinder Singh and SHO PS Kathua Insp. Sandeep Chib swung into action and apprehended one person moving suspiciously by foot while carrying a plastic bag(toda) on Ghatti Nanan road at Kalana.Upon being questioned, he disclosed his identity as Rahul Sharma S/o Joginder Lal R/o Pandrar, Tehsil and District Kathua. Upon checking his bag 56 quarters (180/180 ML each) of JK Special Whisky have been recovered from his possession.
As the individual was transporting liquor without valid permission or license, his actions were found to be in violation of the Excise Act. Consequently, FIR No.405/2025 U/S 48(a) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Kathua. Further investigation is underway.
