Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of ,*SSP Kathua Sh. Shobit Saksena IPS* arrested two bootleggers & recovered total 127 Quarters of JK Special Whisky (180 ml each) from their possession in the jurisdictional area of PS Hiranagar and PS Rajbagh.
In the first Instance, Police Party of P/S Hiranagar led by *SHO PS Hiranagar Insp. Ashish Sharma under the guidance of SP Ops Kathua Sh. Mukund Tibrewal IPS & SDPO Border Sh. Dheeraj Katoch*, while naka checking duty at Paiya Hiranagar , arrested one bootlegger Ran Singh S/O Vakil Singh R/O Bagocha Chak Tehsil Hiranagar district kathua and recovered/seized 85 Quarters of JK Special whisky of 180 ml each. In this regard a case FIR No. 118/2025 U/S 48(a)/Excise Act stands registered at this PS Hiranagar. Further investigation is going on.
While in the second instance the police team of P/S Rajbagh led by *Insp. Ajay Singh Chib SHO PS Rajbagh under the guidance of SP Ops Kathua Sh. Mukund Tibrewal IPS & SDPO Border Sh. Dheeraj Katoch*, while naka checking duty at Chann Arorian, arrested one bootlegger Tirath Ram S/o Lal Chand R/o Chann Arorian tehsil Marheen district kathua and recovered/seized 42 Quarters of JK Special whisky of 180 ml each. In this regard a case FIR No. 146/2025 U/S 48(a)/Excise Act stands registered at this PS Rajbagh. Further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor i.e 127 quarters of JK Excise Whisky were seized and both the accused persons arrested in this connection.
SSP Kathua assures that strict action will be taken against anyone caught involved in illegal Trade/transportation of illicit liquor.
The general public appreciates the efforts of Kathua Police in seizing the Illcit liquor and apprehending the accused and believes that such actions will deter others from engaging in similar activities.
