As part of a series of events to celebrate the 79th Independence Day, Government Degree College
Rajouri organised an Intra-college Seminar for students of all semesters today on 6th August
- The event aimed to evoke patriotic fervour among students while providing them with a
platform to express their views on themes related to India’s independence and national
development.
The seminar began with a formal welcome address delivered by Dr. Zakir Kalis, Convener of the
Cultural and Literary Committee. He set the tone for the day by highlighting the importance of
such academic and patriotic engagements in shaping informed citizens.
The proceedings were smoothly conducted under the moderation of Prof. Khaleeq Ahmed, who
ensured the seamless flow of the event and maintained an engaging atmosphere throughout.
Prof. Zamir Ahmed Mirza, Principal of GDC Rajouri, while addressing the gathering, highlighted
various facets of India’s independence movement, underlining the sacrifices made by freedom
fighters and the significance of preserving the democratic ideals of the nation.
The seminar saw enthusiastic participation from students across semesters, whose presentations
were evaluated by a jury comprising Prof. Ayaz Chowdhary, Dr. Ahsan Rizvi, and Prof. Antima
Gupta. Their insightful observations and fair judgment added value to the competition.
In the results, Ms. Vanshika from Semester III secured the first position for her articulate and
impactful presentation. The second and third positions were bagged by Ms. Haseeba and Mr.
Inzar both from Semester V, respectively.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks presented by Prof. Sabia, who appreciated the
efforts of the organising committee, participants, jury members, and the audience for making the
seminar a grand success.
Prominent attendees who graced the occasion with their presence included Prof. Shoket Hussain,
Dr. Mohd Latief Mir, Dr. Flourance Chaand, Prof. Ram Kishore Bharti, Prof. Anies Chowdhary,
and Dr. Shazia Kouser.
The seminar not only fostered a spirit of patriotism but also reaffirmed the college’s commitment
to nurturing socially aware and intellectually active youth.
