Department of English, GDC Rajouri organized an Extension Lecture

On 1 st August 2025, as part of the ongoing summer internship programme, the Department
of English at Government Degree College (GDC) Rajouri organised a special talk delivered by
Dr. Saleem Wani, Associate Professor at Government Degree College Darhal.
Dr. Wani, with his remarkable erudition and clarity of thought, captivated the audience by
presenting insightful perspectives on various aspects of literature. His lecture was not confined to
literary themes alone; he also highlighted the significance of soft skills and the role of effective
communication in achieving success in personal and professional life. Through his engaging
delivery, he emphasised how literature nurtures critical thinking, empathy, and
articulation—qualities essential for holistic growth.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Prof. Zamir Mirza, Principal of
GDC Rajouri; Prof. Shoket Hussain, Vice Principal; Prof. Khalid Rayaz, Staff Secretary, Dr.
Zakir Hussain Kalis, Head of the Department of English; along with other esteemed faculty
members of the college.
The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Ram Kishore, who
expressed gratitude to Dr. Wani for his enlightening address and acknowledged the efforts of the
organizing faculty for making the event a success.
The programme not only enriched the academic environment of the college but also
inspired students and faculty alike to explore literature as a means of personal and intellectual
development while recognising the value of communication and soft skills in navigating today’s world
