BSP SLAMS GOVERNMENT NEGLECT OF GUJJAR AND BAKERWAL COMMUNITIES IN DODA AND KISHTWAR – DEMANDS URGENT ACTION

Jammu 23 Oct 2025, The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Jammu and Kashmir UT, expresses its deep concern and strong condemnation over the criminal neglect of the Gujjar and Bakerwal tribal communities in the Chenab region, particularly in the districts of Doda and Kishtwar.

Despite tall claims of inclusive development by the J&K UT administration, the ground reality exposes a shocking tale of discrimination, deprivation, and disregard for the most marginalized citizens of the Union Territory.

The Gujjar and Bakerwal people continue to suffer from poor road connectivity, lack of healthcare facilities, limited access to education, unemployment, and seasonal displacement. Their villages remain cut off for months due to inadequate infrastructure, while the government remains conveniently silent and inactive.

Such administrative apathy and neglect have turned these areas into zones of abandonment, where citizens are forced to live without basic human needs. The continued denial of their rights and resources reflects systemic injustice and social exclusion, which the Bahujan Samaj Party will no longer tolerate in silence.

The BSP demands immediate intervention by the Lieutenant Governor’s administration and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to:

  1. Launch a special development package for Gujjar and Bakerwal populations in Doda and Kishtwar.
  2. Ensure all-weather road connectivity, mobile healthcare units, and residential schools for tribal children.
  3. Guarantee employment schemes and livelihood support under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP).
  4. Set up an independent monitoring committee to assess and report on implementation failures in tribal welfare.

The Bahujan Samaj Party warns the administration that its silence over the suffering of these communities will be seen as a deliberate act of injustice. The Party stands firmly with the oppressed Gujjars and Bakerwals and vows to raise their voice at every political and constitutional platform.
