On 14th August 2025, a sudden flash flood struck *Chisoti* village in Kishtwar district, Jammu & Kashmir, causing massive devastation. The disaster claimed several lives. Around 12:30 PM that day, the flood hit the village, which lies on the route of the Machail Mata Yatra, where thousands of pilgrims were present.
The sudden deluge swept away houses, shops, and even a community kitchen (langar). More than 60 people lost their lives, over 100 were injured, and more than 20 went missing.
As soon as *DIG DKR Range, Shri Shridhar Patil, IPS* received the information, he immediately rushed to Chisoti village without any delay and instructed the local police to begin rescue operations on priority.
Since 14th August, *DIG Shridhar Patil* has been continuously camping in Chisoti, personally supervising relief and rescue operations day and night to ensure swift action. Along with coordinating efforts, he has also been visiting the bereaved families to share their grief and extend support to those who lost their loved ones in this tragedy.
Such a *dedicated, humble, and hardworking police officer,* who always fulfills his duties with utmost sincerity, deserves heartfelt respect and salute.
