Jammu : – In a significant development for the transport sector in Jammu and Kashmir, Sh. Parvinder Singh has been unanimously appointed as the Chief Patron of the All J&K Transport Welfare Association, a move seen as a major step toward strengthening leadership, unity, and advocacy within the region’s transport community. The appointment was finalized during a meeting attended by presidents of various transport unions and senior office bearers of the Association. The proposal was initiated by Vice Chairman Sh. Balbir Singh and seconded by President Sh. Vijay Singh Chib, receiving unanimous consent from all members present, reflecting the collective trust in Parvinder Singh’s leadership capabilities.
During the meeting, several members lauded his dedication and commitment to the welfare of transporters, noting his ability to effectively present their concerns to the authorities and push for practical, long-term solutions. In his address, Parvinder Singh assured that critical issues affecting the transport community would be taken up on priority with the concerned departments. He outlined his immediate focus on securing a permanent resolution of transporters’ grievances, initiating fare revisions to ensure economic viability, finalizing the timetable for e-buses to improve scheduling, addressing the growing concerns over e-challaning practices by the Traffic Police, and reviewing the blacklisting of registration certificates and permits by the Motor Vehicles Department to ensure fairness and transparency.
The meeting witnessed the presence of leading transport union representatives, including Gurdeep Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Bharat Sharma, Ranjeet Singh, Harasish Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Davinder Singh, Vijay Dogra, Susheel Sharma, Susheel Dutt, Shanti Swaroop Gupta, and K.D. Singh. All present extended their full support to the new Chief Patron and expressed confidence that under his leadership, the Association will work more effectively for the welfare of transporters across Jammu and Kashmir.
With this appointment, the All J&K Transport Welfare Association has reinforced its commitment to unity, cooperation, and the progressive development of the transport sector, aiming to strengthen its role as a proactive and influential voice for the thousands of workers whose livelihoods depend on it.
