DC Kathua reviews progress of PWD sector schemesExpresses dissatisfaction over delayed execution; emphasis laid on improving performance.

Kathua, December 30:
Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, today reviewed the progress of various Public Works Department (PWD) sector schemes of Kathua Division at a meeting held here.
The meeting was attended by CPO Ranjeet Thakur, Superintendent Engineer PWD Kathua, Executive Engineer PWD Arvind Langhey, AEEs, Technical Officer and other concerned officers.
During the meeting, the XEN PWD apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the physical and financial progress of works being executed under District Capex, NFB, Untied funds, Urban Development, Seema Suraksha Yojana, CDF, NABARD, UT Capex, CRF and City & Town schemes.
It was informed that under NABARD, 21 works have been completed out of a total of 32. Under UT Capex, 6 works have been completed out of 16. However, under the City & Town scheme, only 7 works have been completed out of 22, and merely 9 km of BT work has been executed against the target of 24.20 km during the current financial year.
Taking a serious view of the slow pace of execution, the Deputy Commissioner expressed strong dissatisfaction over the current status and directed the officers to expedite works on priority, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards. He emphasized fixing accountability and avoiding delays at all levels.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed the department to optimally utilise the available time for clearing financial liabilities by December 31, keeping in view the scheduled 30 percent budget cut. He stressed the need for timely billing and close monitoring to ensure maximum utilization of funds before the cut comes into effect.
The DC impressed upon the officers the importance of efficient project execution and directed them to carry out the works with greater commitment to ensure visible on-ground outcomes for public benefit.
